High School Pilot Course
Materials and supplies required for individual projects being developed through independent study “plunges” in a pilot program where students research and develop areas of interest not available in the traditional curriculum.

WEATHER KIDS – $2,688.40
All Second Grades
Provides equipment and materials to establish weather stations that will enable students to study weather through observations utilizing science, technology, engineering and math. Project will be connected to online program like “Midwest Climate Center”.

SUMMER SLIDE SAFETY NET – $978.00
Identified First and Second Graders
Scholastic Book Packs for identified needy students to continue reading and learning throughout the summer to prevent backslide and ensure proper reading preparedness for the next school year.

SMART MUSIC PILOT PROGRAM – $1,800.00
All Sixth Grade String Orchestra Students
Individualized computer-based programs that students and teachers use for music practice and assessment. Programs are applicable for home and school use, giving immediate feedback on performance skills with documentation.

MATH RECOVERY/ADVANTAGE SUPPORT – $550.00
All First Grade Students
Additional Math Assessment Testing and Diagnostic Tools for the classroom to identify and determine where to implement targeted math interventions. Program will help ensure students math preparedness for second grade.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH SHARING TECHNOLOGY – $950.00
Sixth through Eight Grades – All Math Classrooms
Computer software that allows students to share their math calculations with the entire class and also work collaboratively with other students. Program also allows all work to be used on the large screen.

LEIGHTON SCHOOL COMMUNITY TILE MURAL – $600.00
All Fourth Grade Students
Special project creating a Tile Mural Wall at Leighton School on the subject of “Celebrating Community”. The project will involve cross disciplinary skills including math, design, civic reflection and student collaboration.

DIGITAL BOOKSHELF – $800.00
All Students – Craddock Elementary
Provides for the establishment of an expandable digital “bookshelf” centered in the Craddock library that will provide teachers, students and parents with 24/7 access to hundreds of online books accessible by computers, iPads, tablets and in the classrooms.

MATH DISCOURSE / GUIDED MATH for 21st CENTURY – $1373.66
All Fifth Grade Students
Materials to introduce project-based technology through the use of student blogs increasing students’ abilities to communicate math in written expression as required by state Common Core Standards.

RACKET POWER FITNESS – $2,000.00
Harmon and High School Students with Special Needs
This equipment will enhance the educational, learning abilities and socialization of students with physical and learning disabilities through directed, research-based, vigorous physical activities not previously available to A.C.S. students.
